The Story so far

Even as a child, he had wanted to try his hand at creating his own visual narratives. Thus, inspired by the stories told by animated adventures and graphic tales as told by Akira Toriyama, Osamu Tezuka, Yoshiyuki Tomino, Stan Lee, Frank Frazetta, and many others, he embarked on a journey to cultivate his artistic talents, eager to weave his own stories and breathe life into his imagination.

Harold Viardo Khan was born in Quezon City, in 1979. Throughout his formative years, he found himself navigating the bustling streets of Quezon City and Manila, each corner teeming with life and inspiration.

However, as he frequently journeyed to the dynamic streets of Singapore’s South district, he was exposed to a diversity of cultures, sights, and sounds, enriching his worldview and fueling his creative imagination.

Against the backdrop of these eclectic urban landscapes, Harold’s passion for art continued to grow, inspired by the fusion of Eastern and Western influences that surrounded him. His upbringing in both the Philippines and Singapore instilled in him a unique perspective that would later permeate his artistic endeavors, instilling them with depth, diversity, and a profound appreciation for the beauty found in cultural diversity.

Harold earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts majoring in Advertising Arts from the prestigious University of Santo Tomas in 2001, honing his skills and refining his artistic vision under the guidance of seasoned mentors. During his time at the university, he distinguished himself as an artist of notable talent, contributing his creativity to the esteemed institution’s official student publication, the Varsitarian.

As a vital member of the publication’s artistic team, he showcased his ability to blend technical proficiency with imaginative flair, producing illustrations that resonated with readers. Through his involvement with the Varsitarian, he not only sharpened his artistic abilities but also developed a deep appreciation for the power of visual storytelling and its capacity to inspire and inform.

Within his expansive oeuvre, one finds a captivating blend of photographs that capture fleeting moments in time, paintings that evoke emotion and depth, illustrations that transport viewers to otherworldly realms, and portraits that reveal the inner essence of the subjects.

Harold currently lives in Vienna with his family and works as a senior graphic artist. Amidst the rich cultural background of the Austrian capital, he finds both inspiration and solace, drawing from its storied history and dynamic landscape to fuel his creative pursuits.

As a senior graphic artist, Harold lends his expertise to shaping visual narratives, infusing each project with his signature blend of innovation and artistry.

As a skilled graphic artist, Harold seamlessly merges traditional techniques with cutting-edge digital skillsets, smoothly blending the natural and the fantastical in mesmerizing compositions.

Despite the demands of his professional life, Harold remains steadfast in his commitment to his craft, seizing every opportunity to immerse himself in the world of art.

Harold has published his first Superhero comics in 2010, titled Mr.X, in collaboration with the SPÖ (The Social Democratic Party of Austria).
